IBNELG Chairman, Ibrahim Akintayo Speaks Tough On Insecurity, Reaffirms Commitment To Support Security Agencies To Swedge Insecurity

 








 Hon Ibrahim Akintayo has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to support securities agencies in their effort to fight insecurity within the State. 



  The chairman said; "The insecurity challenges within Ibadan north east local government has assumed a worrisome dimension. The Chairman stated that a multi stakeholder approach and a resuscitation and reinforcement of moral values and virtues. The preference for violence in expressing pent-up frustration and disenchantments within the neighborhood of Ibadan north east local government must come to an end. 





He unveiled his plan towards the launching of the security outfit tagged “VOLUNTARY POLICING SECTOR” (VPS) . In his statement “he said the VPS will work closely with the existing security agencies in ensuring peace within the council area



  Various contribution were made during the meeting, the security operatives in the local government jurisdictions which consist of Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC and others advised government on the need to give VPS applicants needed orientation before shortlisting which should include police training among others.

In addition, government is urged to jettison the idea of giving VPS applicants uniform not to subject them to risk of being attacked by the hoodlums.

In contribution, the chairman of religious leaders in the local government, Pastor Oloyede said security issue should be a collective responsibility of all and sundry, he used the forum to charge every community and religious association to support security operatives.


The security meeting had in attendance the vice-chairman, Mrs Mary Esomior, Head of local government administration, Engr. Babatunde Adewale, Director of Administration and general services, Alhaja R F Olanrewaju, Director of Finance and Supplies, Dr. Adedokun Samuel, others are heads of security operatives in the local government jurisdiction, CDC chairman, Elder Adeleke & Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf, Comrade Mojeed and host of others
