ALGON Deputy National Vice President, Sikiru Sanda Congratulates Newly-elected LG chairmen, councillors in Lagos, Ogun

 


The Deputy National Vice President (Interim Management Committee) of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Honourable Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, who is also the Chairman, ALGON, Oyo State and Chairman, Egbeda Local Government Area of the state has congratulated the newly-elected chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors of Lagos and Ogun states on their election victory.

Sanda said that the successful local government elections would herald a new phase in the democratic space in Lagos and Ogun states.


The ALGON chief, in a statement released in Ibadan, Oyo State, on behalf of the National President, Alhaji Abdullahi Maje and other newly-constituted members, disclosed that the elected chairmen must ensure to set a stage for the grass-root people to enjoy good governance where inclusive leadership and people’s voices would be heard for maximum development.


Sanda told the newly-elected chairmen and councillors to sustain the unity of the country in respect of any political affiliation in which they were elected. He added that as the chief security officers of their local government areas, they must ensure the strengthening of security in their areas.


He also advised other state governors that are yet to conduct local government elections to follow the footsteps of other governors who had done it.


Sanda thanked the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for the opportunity given to him to contest as the Executive Chairman in Egbeda Local Government and also shower encomium on the governor for keeping his campaign promises by conducting a free and fair local government election in Oyo State.
