POLITICAL VIEW: APC and Their Calamity Excited Opposition in Oyo State || By Rotimi Johnson Ojasope

I was flattered when I heard a "caller-in" mentioned my name on Fresh FM's freshly Pressed on Thursday 12th August 2021. The caller insinuated I was bias but I was flattered that he even made reference to something I said on live Radio, about 24hrs earlier. That Radio conversation got me thinking and I thought of putting my opinion in writing.

The main opposition party in Oyo State and the federal ruling party; the All Progressive Congress has eventually succeeded in tagging self as Alarmist People's Party by the way they raise unwarranted alarms and show excitement disguised as sympathy when any calamity happens in Oyo State. You will remember that with APC, everything is politics and politics is everything. They break calamity in Oyo State with pint of excitement.

While APC Oyo State focuses on grabbing (not winning) the next elections by all means, unfortunately they are plotting against a man that is sold out to posterity and legacy for the next generation. Yes, opposition strives on incumbent's mistakes but it is not proper and not in the People's interest to create fathom mistakes just to score cheap points.

The Urban Flood project that started trending since Tuesday actually got me thinking seriously; the reaction of APC was more like; "thank God we have something to hammer him on and we got him this time". Off course, because that was the motive of their outcry, they lost sense of decorum and judgement; they replaced MIGHT BE with "has been" and that suggested their prayers against the present Administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. They have forgotten that it's not flood control for government House but majorly for the masses.

THE REAL COST, IF PROJECT IS CANCELLED:

This is a credit facility and I almost fell for their propaganda of Oyo State losing N26B (twenty six billion Naira) until I read the response from the Oyo State Government. This is a credit facility though with low interest rate and more convenient payment tenure but still doesn't change the fact that it is a facility, not a grant. By implications, the loss to the people of Oyo State can not be N26B but differential interest rate with commercial Banks or Bond and the convenience of the tenure. Causing uproar about Governor Seyi Makinde causing Oyo State to lose 26billion Naira is a propaganda from the pit of hell, please don't fall for it.

VALUE FOR MONEY: Governor Seyi Makinde vowed to give Oyo State People value for money and that must reflect in every project and services, World Bank facility notwithstanding. As much as we the People of Oyo State appreciate the World Bank initiative, we must also remember that we gave Engr Seyi Makinde our Mandate and it's accountable trust. The kind of opposition played by APC can only produce expected results where there is great trust deficit between the people and the Leader. That is not applicable here because Engr Seyi Makinde is still the People's Governor and remains resolute about keeping his electoral promises.

THE PUBLICATIONS WERE PURE PROPAGANDA: The publications made reference to the letter signed by the Director but didn't quote the Director or refer to any Agent of Oyo State Government's reaction to the said letter. The first reaction I had when I read the Sahara reporter's version that broke the news was to ask myself who was the letter written to and who revealed it to the news men. As much as I knew the World Bank assisted projects are great gain to the good people of Oyo State, I didn't read anything in all the publications that suggested definite cancellation of the project. So knowing how Engr Seyi Makinde has demonstrated great commitment to welfare of the people of Oyo State, I am convinced if the World Bank withdraws their funds, the Government of Engr Seyi Makinde can not cancel the project. Therefore, when I read of the plea by the Governor to World Bank and showing the letter from the project office to the Governor, I was excited that our amiable Governor had demonstrated leadership again and beaten them to it.

As much as we would not portray Engr Seyi Makinde as perfect Leader, the opposition must learn to wait for the mistake to be made before crucifying him. If no mistake has been made, then you can only warn for it not to happen. So, why raise alarm as if hell has been set lose in Oyo State when the assumed loss or mistake has not even happened? That's my perspective and opinion on the issue. Let the opposition hold their crucifix until the mistake happens and if it does not, they can use it for one another, in order not to waste it, not create fathom mistakes then search for justifications.

Engr Seyi Makinde is doing SEVEN GOOD THINGS AND SIX YEAH THINGS IN OYO STATE.
