SOUN OF OGBOMOSO: Makinde Visits Family, Announces State Burial For Late Monarch

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday, approved the conduct of State burial for the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, who passed on to the great beyond on December 12, after 48 years on the throne.

The Governor made the announcement during a condolence visit to the family of the late monarch at Ogbomoso.

“Part of the reason I came is that Baba deserves State Burial and, for me as the Governor of Oyo State, that is exactly what I will give to Baba. So, I am here to discuss with the family personally and whatever we agree on is what I will carry out,” Makinde said.

The Soun died at the age of 95.

Though the governor was in Nigeria when the Soun died, he could not personally visit the palace till he travelled for a brief United States visit late in December.

He was, however, represented at the burial of the Ogbomoso monarch by his Deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan who led the state delegation.
