PDP Governor's Forum Chairmanship: Tambuwal Has Not Resigned, Makinde’s Appointment Untrue

Fresh fact emerged on the report widely circulated on Thursday, indicating that the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ forum and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwual has resigned and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had emerged as the new chairman of the forum.

Speaking on this development, the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, CID Maduabum, dismissed the report, saying it is untrue.

In a statement made available to journalists, Maduabum noted that Tambuwal will continue in his position while the party works towards resolving its crisis.

The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum contrary to some media reports.

“Members of the PDP Governors Forum are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the Party.

“To this end a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened.”

Also speaking, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said, “It is not true as at this time. I have no information that he has resigned and if he has resigned, I will be in the best position to know.

“Right now, there are procedures for resignation and that’s why when the BoT chairman resigned it was communicated to me and I released it to the public.”
