The Caretaker Chairman, Ibadan North East Local Government area of Oyo State, Mr Ibrahim Akintayo on Tuesday said plans have been concluded to distribute food items as palliative packages to people at the local government.
He said the distribution will be in line with the state government instruction to make the exercise orderly and successful.
Speaking with Journalists on the programme which is to commence soon, the council chairman said the palliative will be from ward level to zones adding that each household will go and get their food stuff from the head of their community which involves the zonal leaders and others.
“They will know how to distribute the items to the people without them necessarily coming out to line up for the palliative. It will be done on specific instructions from the state governor in order to make it successful.”
Mr Akintayo recalled that the rules of the palliative has been abused by many adding nobody needs to come out to line up as plans and measures to distribute the food items have strategically been put together to ensure that it goes round the people.
While urging the people to conduct them selves in good manner during this period, and ensure they observe the hygiene and other safety measures, Akintayo said the governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde deserves to be commended for his concerns and support since the pandemic started.
“No total lock down in Oyo State but what we have is a curfew between 7pm to 6am. The governor has been so careful and sensitive to the way things are going on in the state. In a very short time every thing will take good shape, he added.
Speaking on the additional 14 days of lock down by president Muhammad Buhari in his broadcast, the council boss described it as a welcome development since the motive is to address the COVIC-19 pandemic in the country.
