The executive chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon Ibrahim Akintayo has sent a commemoration message to the people of the council area and Oyo state at large on the celebration of this year democracy day.

Hon. Akintayo in his democracy goodwill message to the people of the state, stated that  democracy day cannot be celebrated without remembering happenings attached to the annulled June 12 presidential election and Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the most free and fair election ever conducted in Nigeria.

The chairman therefore called for sober reflection on the sacrifices of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice especially Chief MKO Abiola. We can honour the sacrifices by keeping to the tenets of democracy and the rule of law.

We can also honour these sacrifices by ensuring dividends of democracy is enjoyed by the citizenry.
