Oyo Assembly Confirms Justice Moshood Abass As President-Designate Of Oyo State Customary Court Of Appeal

 





The Oyo State House of Assembly has on Thursday confirmed Justice Moshood Akinyemi Abass as the President-Designate of the Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal. Sunrisebulletin.com reports.

This legislative confirmation by the state House of Assembly follows the nomination of the name of Honourable Justice Moshood Abass by the Executive Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde which was onwardly transmitted to the House for screening and approval.

The legislative process wàs in pursuant to section 281(1) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) which requires the nominee to the position of President of the Customary Court of Appeal to appear before the state House of Assembly for screening and approval sequel to nomination by the Executive Governor.

The House did not however, subject Justice Moshood Abass to a rigorous session of questions and answers following his impressive achievements and records of service since becoming a legal practitioner as read on the floor of the House by Honourable Yusuf Adebisi Oladeni.

The Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, in his remark extolled Justice Abass and his impressive records as well as his vast experience in the administration of justice in all previous positions held in the Nigerian judicial system.

Ogundoyin expressed confidence in the expertise and vast experience of the legal luminary to come to bear in improving on the justice system in Oyo state in order to further deepen the state and Nigeria’s democracy and democratic institutions.

The House however, unanimously agreed that Justice Moshood Abass should just take a bow and go while urging the Justice to deploy his wealth of experience to improve on the Oyo State judicial system.
