.....as Oyo SDGs boss, Kunle Yussuf  MON donates N100k for maintenance of facilities

It was a fanfare galore, coupled with joy and relief on Wednesday at Idi-Ape community in Ibadan, as the leader of Omituntun Benedict Forum and PDP chieftain, Chief Benedict Akika renovated their mosque and also drilled a motorized borehole.

The commissioning of the project, which was greeted with fanfare, had in attendance top government functionaries, community and religious leaders, included Otunba Seye Famojuro, Hon Kunle Yusuff MON, Engr Akeem Olatunji, PDP State PRO, Traditional ruler from Olorunda Abaa, Oba Samuel Oludele Abiodun, Lawmaker representing Lagelu state constituency, Hon Akintunde Olajide.

Prince Adebowale Falana, Vice-chairman Lagelu LG, Hon Abiodun Badmus, Prophet John Oluwapemi, Ibadan North LG Vice-chairman, Hon Waheed Adeniyi Akanbi, Community leaders, Muslim and Christian clerics, Alhaji Adetokunbo Adeaga, Hon Olatoye Olajide (Sugar), Lekan Salawu Mojeed, Kunle Mumeen, Hon Lukmon Olajide (Royal Umbrella), Bashorun Saintabbey , Tobi Oyewumi, Victor Olojede, Lanre Latinwo the secretary of Lagelu Local Government who represented the Executive Chairman, Hon Kazeem Adeyemi, Senator Kamorudeen Keji, Amuda Adekunle Mumeen and other PDP gladiators in the state.

The visioner, Chief Benedict Akika said he saw the need to embark on the projects because of its necessity and importance to the people of the community.

He said: “When came here, I saw the need for borehole, so I reached out to community leaders and we did the survey.”

“Eventually, it was located in front of this mosque. When I moved back to check the surroundings, I discovered the mosque needed renovation.”

“That how we decided to tile the drainage and provide tap. We also changed the doors to iron and paint the mosque. We bought generator to power the borehole.”

Akika said he was only complementing what Governor Seyi Makinde is doing across the state.

“The governor cannot do everything, we need to support him as member of PDP, just as we are instructed by him to development our community.”

In his remark, the chairman of the occasion, Otunba Seye Famojuro, commended Akika for working for PDP at grassroots and shining example for other party faithfuls across board.

“He has done well for the party and his community, what it means is that we should go back to our streets and work for the party. Is not only enough to be shouting PDP up and down let’s go and work in our communities.”

In his reaction, the chairman of the community, Pastor Ayeni, said he appreciated Chief Akika for always being there for the community.

He expressed satisfaction for the new borehole and renovation.

Also, the Imam of Idi-Ape mosque, Alhaji Nureni Gbadamosi, did not hide his satisfaction, as he said the project and renovation came at the right time when it is much needed. He seized the opportunity to laud Chief Akika for his kind gesture.

When asked what Oyo residents should expect more from the PDP, state Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr. Akeem Olatunji said: “The visioner of this project is just telling people of the state that PDP has been rebranded and the likes of Bendict Akika is a good example of what PDP means and apart from that, its what we have been inculcating in every of our member to make sure they develop wherever they come from.”

“This is where the visioner is living and is showing is also bringing back whenever is getting from the community.”

He developed this area without expecting anything back from the people. That is how ordinary PDP members is doing in there various communities. This is telling people of Oyo State, the present PDP belongs to them and ready to serve them across the 33 local government area of Oyo State.”

 

 










Highlight of the commissioning featured the donation of a hundred thousand naira by the Senior Special Adviser to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on SDGs, Hon. Kunle Yussuf (MON), to the community for the proper maintenance of the facilities provided.
