I’Il Not Let You Down, New Olubadan Balogun Promises Ibadan People •As Makinde Presents Staff, Instruments Of Office

The newly installed Olubadan of Ibadaland has promised not to let Ibadan people down.

E3NAIJA reports that the newly Installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun the Okunmade II has promised not to let the people of Ibadan down.

Olubadan in his brief address shortly after receiving the staff and instrument of office from the state Governor said, “I will not let Ibadan down, I will not let Nigeria down, I thank Vice President who came to represent the President, the former Vice President Atiku, the Ooni, Alaafin and other dignitaries present here.

Dignitaries present at the oldest Mapo Hall the venue of the event are President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, former President Atiku Abubakar, the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum Governor Kayode Fayemi, Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Babatunde Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Sultan of Sokoto,  Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar, the Olugbo of Ugbo Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, the Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar.

Some High Cheifs of Ibadan led by Senator Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland have paid homage to the Balogun Okunmade II Oba Dr. Lekan  Moshood.

Highlights of the event is the presentation of staff and instrument of office to the newly installed Olubadan Oba Dr Lekan Balogun.

In his address President Muhammadu Buhari who was ably represented by the  Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo commended the importance of Ibadanland to the country, he noted that Ibadan not only in the political history, unparalleled traditional system but being the home of many first institutions in the Country.

He maintained that the newly crowned Olubadan who have made himself ready for the thrown, will not disappoint the sons and daughters of Ibadanland.

Governor Seyi Makinde after presenting  the staff of honor and the instrument of office to the forty second Olubadan of Ibadanland, urged the people of Ibadanland to be rejoicing because the traditional system of Ibadan has been restored despite all the challenges erupted after the transition of the previous Olubadan, adding that it is an age old tradition that must be uphold.

“Our gathering here is a victory for all the Ibadan Indigenes because our traditional system has been restored. Our Baba has contributed and will continue to contribute to the development of Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria at large, he has served the state at the Senate, he’s indeed a man of many parts,we have things in common, both of us served at the Shell oil.

“The custodian of our traditional system should desist from partisan politics, you are the gatekeepers and I want you to remain as such.”

Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland received staff and instrument of Office 69 days after the demise of the late Oba Saliu Adetunji Ajeoguguniso 1 and was duly crowned after performing traditional rites at Afobaje’s Compound and Ose House all located at Oja’ba market beside Mapo Hall before he was officially presented staff and instrument of office from the state Governor Engr Seyi Makinde.
