OYHA 2027:Hon. Alimi Abiola Efficy Steps down, Aligns With Gov. Makinde’s Directive, Supports Incumbent Lawmaker, Hon. Waheed Akintayo Ilumoka
Ibadan, Oyo State – April 11, 2026
A leading aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Oluyole State Constituency, Hon. Alimi Abiola Ibrahim (Efficy), has officially announced his withdrawal from the 2027 race, citing party unity, leadership respect, and alignment with the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement released on Monday, Hon. Efficy said his decision was taken in the overall interest of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the progress of Oluyole Local Government.
“This decision was not made lightly, but with deep respect for leadership, party discipline, and the collective interest of our great party,” he stated.
Hon. Efficy reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as both his political leader and guiding force.
> “His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde (FNSE) is not just my Governor — he is my political party. Wherever he goes, I go,” he declared.
He noted that his withdrawal aligns with the Governor’s directive granting automatic tickets to first-term members of the State House of Assembly, a move aimed at ensuring continuity and stability within the legislature.
Following his withdrawal, Hon. Alimi Abiola Efficy declared total support for the incumbent lawmaker representing Oluyole State Constituency, Hon. Waheed Akintayo (Ilumoka Presenter), pledging to work towards his re-election.
“I wholeheartedly declare my total support for Hon. Waheed Akintayo and remain committed to working collaboratively to ensure his victory and the continued development of our constituency,” he added.
The former aspirant also acknowledged the role of party leaders and stakeholders in Oluyole Local Government, particularly under the leadership of Dr. Gbola Adetunji, whose intervention contributed to the decision.
He further expressed appreciation to the PDP leadership in Oluyole, including the Party Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat, and the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, for their guidance and support.
Hon. Efficy extended gratitude to his supporters and members of Team Agbajowo across the ten wards in Oluyole, urging them to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“This is not the end, but the beginning of a stronger and more united movement. I urge all our supporters to mobilize massively for the victory of our party and all its candidates in 2027,” he said.
His withdrawal is widely seen as a move to strengthen party cohesion and consolidate support for the ruling PDP in Oluyole ahead of the next electoral cycle.
