LG Poll: Hon Settle Olaide Gives Acceptance Speech As OYSIEC Declares Him As Oluyole LG Chairman-elect

OYSIEC declared PDP candidate, Popoola Olaide Settle as the winner of Oluyole local government Chairmanship election having polled 11,224 ahead other party candidates.

Analysis of the votes stated below;

ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

In a journey that has featured a lot of distractions that refused to fulfil its set goals, traps that refused to catch its prey, curses that refused to find footage,  character puncturing that flies around but ended up loosing capacity to achieve targeted goals and ofcourse;  every other political and social pills that we had to take , not forgetting and without mincing words, the storms and all the missiles of attacks that characterised the journey from electioneering to victory, I cannot but thank the almighty God for his mercies and grace which are the guiding forces that has helped me to clinch this recent victory in the just concluded polls and Oluyoles for making victory happen at a time such as this.

Like I have always emphasised  on many occassions and across all forums where I have been graced to share my mind or asked to communicate what is unique about me or placed me ahead of others;  I say its not by power because I have none, its never by might because I lack might, I have said it repeatedly that I lack the prowess and the sagacity to confront or attempt to go shoulder to shoulder with  the high and the mighty , I am only a product of time and chance!

Going forward, this is not my victory, it is our victory, it is our government, it is about a people giving a mandate to choose either to sacrifice their selfish desires to fix a rotten system affecting them or not,  it is about a call mandating us to visit the annals of history and decide if we want to bastardise the labours of our heroes past and allow the land they fought to make our heritage work against us, it is an intentional attempt factored by God to check our heart, putting us on a trial to see if we would follow the trajectory of some leaders who have allowed their untamed belly to make them leave this throne we are just elected to sit without any track record of lasting legacies.

 Indeed, for us, it is a call to responsibility, a service requiring our doggedness, thoroughness and political cum strong collective will to put politics aside and take the bull by the horn to address all the mirage of problems and challenges battering the growth of Oluyole Local Government.

In the course of our house to house campaigning exercise, we daily identify areas of challenges which is an eye sore as far as we are concerned. We have told you all that we are driven by a passion to serve our people and that is what we are maintaining. How can we sit in the office and be comfortable seeing our primary school children learning under dilapidated structures and annoying scenes of enviromental pollutions across our market areas? What about our primary health centres which previous administration has left in shambles, thank God we kicked of renovation processes and beckon on the current GOV. SEYI MAKINDE led administration at state level to come to our  rescue and our people can see the result of our moves yielding visible results across the 10 wards of our dear Local Government while we were serving in caretaker capacity. This cannot be the last we can do to make Oluyole great again. We are back to continue from where we stopped, now in full capacity as an elected Chairman.

For us, we have not seen it all, but we have seen more that is sufficient to take tears from our eyes and make us to be true ambassadors of our people,  serving them in full capacity and transforming the grassroot by embarking on aggressive infrastructural revolution that will birth a change that would crystalise into making our people proud to say we have taken them from poverty to prosperity.

As we look forward to your further support having voted us to be your voice for development and a more secured Oluyole, we assure you that our manifesto has captured all the key areas of your lives and we shall promptly implement your agenda and we believe sooner than later, the positive result you envisage shall be birthed.

I thank all our community leaders, political leaders, citizens and residents of Oluyole Local Government, our teeming supporters and members, not also forgetting my political party , PDP which has graciously helped me thus far to be the flagbearer of the party and returned elected in the just concluded election.

 I appreciate the untiring support of the entire local leaders of my party, headed by Prince LASUNKANMI SALAMI (Baba meto), the party Chairman; Alh.MUKAILA ADEGBOLA as well as the entire executive  of my party. I extend my gratitude to the almighty state working committee of the party, headed by Alh. KUNMI MUSTAPHA as Chairman and Alh. WASIU ADELEKE as Secretary, not forgetting our very own ENGR. Akeem Olatunji , the State publicity Secretary.

Words will fail me to quantify the level playing ground giving to us as candidates in the election made possible by the dexterous oyo state Governor, a man of impeccable character, my own benefactor, ENGR.SEYI MAKINDE (FNSE). I also thank the electoral umpire of the state; OYSIEC and its team of adhoc staffers for conducting a truly free, fair and credible election leading to this unconstestable victory made possible by God through our people. 

Lastly, I commend the sportmanship spirit demonstrated by all those who ran this race with us from other all the 17 political parties that participated in the election. Your contributions towards deeping democracy will never go unnoticed. We are open to work with you to make Oluyole Local Government great again.
