Eid el-Fitri: Oyo PDP Felicitate Muslim Faithfuls, Call For Sustained Religious Harmony Among Residents •Also Celebrates Oyo Workers

The ruling Oyo state chapter of People's Democratic Party (PDP), today felicitates Muslim faithfuls across the state on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr celebration, calling on residents in the state to sustain religious harmony for continuous peaceful coexistence in the state.

This is coming on the heels of the just concluded 2022 Ramadan fasting which ended today after thirty days of fasting and prayers by Muslims across the world.

The ruling PDP in a press statement on Monday morning signed by its State Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro and made available to newsmen by its State Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji said the peaceful coexistence among residents has culminated into adequate security and tranquility in the state.

The Statement noted that religious tolerance and harmony always lead to security of lives and properties and the eventual peaceful coexistence among residents as evident in Oyo state.

The ruling party called on residents to sustain the love and affection for one another across different faiths urging the people to avoid politicians who will come to use decisive measures on account of religious differences to cause disaffection among residents.

According to the Oyo state PDP, the time is already here when unpopular and irrelevant politicians will begin to use religion as a political tool to generate support base for themselves instead of marketing what they're capable of if given a chance in public office. It warned politicians with divisive tendencies to desist from such politics saying it is old fashioned.

Meanwhile, the ruling party in Oyo state also joined other Nigerians to celebrate its workforce on the occasion of this year's Workers Day describing the state civil servants as the most treasured resources in the state.

The party stated further that even the visually and hearing impaired members of the society can feel the positive impacts of the Makinde led government especially, as it affects the welfare and wellbeing of the state workforce stressing that it's government will not deviate from the path of "people centered" policies and programs.

According to the ruling party, even members of the opposition parties in the state could not argue this fact about the improved standard of living and quality of life of the residents in the state orchestrated by the strong Government-workers bonding under the PDP led Government.

The Oyo state PDP described the state workforce as the lifewire of the state which it said must top the priority of any sensitive, responsive and responsible government stressing that the Seyi Makinde led Government has corrected all the undeserved modern slavery treatment meted out to Oyo workers by the last administration.

The party emphasized that it does not take a rocket science to be committed to the wellbeing of the state workforce that generates revenue used for various developmental projects and programs within the state saying only a wicked and daredevil government will show such impetus and zero empathy for the plight of its workers as evident under the last administration where workers were subjected to unspeakable hardship due to daylight stealing of public commonwealth.

"We join our hearts with all workers in the Oyo state civil service on the auspicious occasion of year 2022 workers day which is celebrated globally.

"You deserve all the celebration and accolades not from us alone as a party but also from other groups, organizations, and individuals because you're not only the engine room propelling this administration but also the lifewire of any government. You're indeed the most treasured of all the available resources and you have continued to that from time immemorial and for that we want to reiterate emphatically that you're celebrated now and always.

"A day like this should also away from the fanfare and celebration cause us all to reflect on the dark era of our collective history as a state which is an eight interrupted years of thick darkness not only upon workers but also those retirees and pensioners who served the state meritoriously but were denied their rights under the last power drunk administration between 2011 and 2019.

"It was during the last administration that civil servants were wrongly laid off, dismissed from service or made to serve undeserved punishment just for demanding for what rightfully belongs to you, good governance and better welfare package as workers.

"Like the Biblical Israelites and Moses, God in his mercies has rescued Oyo state workers from the shackles of the bondage of APC, and just like the unrelenting Pharaoh they are regrouping to come take you back to Egypt you left behind into the promised land in Oyo state but we join you all to say never again shall we see this draconian power hungry APC.

"It is on record that the present PDP led Government under our God sent man, Seyi Makinde has clearly demonstrated an unprecedented leadership and commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the state workforce with prompt payment of your salaries and arrears as well as pension and gratuities to the retirees and you can be assured that it can only get better as we continue to journey together on this path of economic prosperity.

"There's no doubt those who enslaved the state civil servants to enrich themselves, their cronies and their children have started regrouping, they are pained that Oyo state money is now spent on the people of Oyo state and not shared among them as political thieves anymore. They say Seyi Makinde should share workers money for them so they can continue to gloat over public commonwealth, this is the crime Seyi Makinde has committed.

"We urge you workers in the state civil service to as a matter of civic responsibility to your children and generations unborn, continue to support this government to take Oyo state to that position among comity of states where we are rated as one of the economic hubs of the nation. Once again, happy workers day."
