It was exactly 6:47pm on Wednesday evening, 9th of June, 2021. That the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele Lajue!👀 recieved a distress calls from a source claiming that men of a particular tribe have invaded the Awaye Village and environs. Adding that a casualty had also been recorded, and with immediate effect myself, the Executive Chairman, Egbeda Local Government, the Honourable Speaker, Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Oladebo Simple, the Councillors representing Ward 8 and Ward 9, Hon. Mufutau Sarafa Bakare and Hon. Jimoh Kolawole Arowolo with the support of the Oyo State Government led the joint Security Agents to the affected communities and we arrived at Awaye Village at about 7pm same day. On our way to the village, we met some people giving different reports of the incident until we make a proper investigations on the spot and reliable report had it that one Vegetables farmer was killed by yet to be identified gunmen in his farm in a different location (Erinmi Village) and the body had been recovered by the Security Agents. While we met with the Baale of Awaye, Chief Kazeem Lamidi and the people of the community appreciated the quick response and the swift intervention of the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and his cabinet as we have not forsaken them in the time they need us most.
However, I appreciate the Commander, Operation Burst, the D.P.O Egbeda Division, the D.P.O Gbagi Police Division, the Civil Defense, the Amotekun, the men of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), the Hunters, the Agbekoya and others who volunteered themselves for their selfless efforts until we recovered all those that were missing during the unrest. And we can reassured you of better and peaceful coexistence in Egbeda Local Government Area.
Most importantly, let's all be at alert in various places and homes and also be vigilant and observant at all times. If you SEE something, SAY something!
