IBNE Council Chair, Hon Akintayo Urges Religious Leaders On Preaching Moral Values As Panacea To Insecurity


A call has gone to religious leaders to intensify their efforts on preaching moral values in our places of worship.

Making the call is the executive Chairman of Ibadan North East local government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo during the National Campaign on Cultism for the secondary school students in collaboration with Operation Campus Storm.

Hon. Akintayo said the issue of banditry, ritual killing, kidnapping and all sorts of insecurities is associating with occult groups which is rampart in our institution of higher learning.

The council scribe then called on religious. leaders to give priority to moral values in their preaching while parents should give parenting duties atmost attention

The council Chairman equally appealed to students to desist and denounce their membership from cult group likewise shun all acts of thuggery and hooliganism.

Hon. Akintayo gave kudos to the executive Governor of the state, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde for the various steps taken targeted at ensuring security of lives and properties in the state.

In his lecture, Dr. Olufemi Michael said reports reaching His Excellency from secondary schools as regards Cultism are not pleasant hence the campaign against Cultism targeted on leaders of tomorrow.

He emphasized that mode of dressing of most secondary school students prompt their indoctrination into cult groups..

Dr. Olufemi urged the students to be mindful of their steps and be careful on whom to choose as their role model as wrong decision may ruin their future.

While commending the effort of the Governor, most secondary school teachers who contributed appealed to the Governor to include parents and other stakeholders in this type of seminar.

Other are of the opinion that school authority will have control over the their students if all schools are well fenced and bush free.

Present at the occasion are Chief of staff to the Chairman, Mr Akanbi Ojo, Head of the Local Government Administration, Prince Adeyinka Adeleye, Heads of Department in the local government and teachers from various secondary schools in Ibadan North East Local Government.
