IBNE Council Boss, Akintayo Offers Condolences on Passing of Mufti Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga


Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, expresses his heartfelt condolences to Muslim Umar and the entire Muslim community following the passing of the Grand Mufti of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga.

In a statement released today by the Council's Information Officer, Ikeoye Oyetoro on behalf of the Chairman, Hon Akintayo who is also the Aare Akeweje of Oyo State, joined in mourning alongside the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, and the Chief Imam of Ibadan, along with the entire League of Imams of Ibadan North East.

The Council Boss while highlighting the late Sheikh’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in fostering unity among the Muslim community and beyond, lamented that Sheikh Alaga’s demise has left an irreplaceable void among Muslims in the State.

The Chairman acknowledged the profound impact Sheikh Alaga had on the community, particularly in the renovation of Agodi Gate Yid and the Iwo Road central mosque emphasizing the role played by Sheikh Alaga in promoting religious harmony within the state.

"As Ibadan mourns the loss of a revered spiritual leader, the legacy left by Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga will undoubtedly be cherished and remembered for years to come,"  Akintayo stated. 

The Chairman extends his deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and followers of Sheikh Abdulfatai Alaga during this difficult time and pray that Allah will forgive his shortcomings.
