MAULUD NABIYY: Oyo ALGON Publicity Secretary, Agba Egbe Felicitates Muslim Faithful, Urges them to Imbibe the Spirit of Love, Unity, Peace

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Yusuff Sahib Oladayo (Agba Egbe) has urged Muslims faithful on the maulud nabiyy celebrations to be imbibe the spirit of unity, peace and also never to neglect the holy lifestyle of the greatest prophet Muhammad. Nigeria Police Set to Embark on Two Weeks Nationwide Warning Strike

The Nigerian Police force has revealed the intentions to embark on an unprecedented two weeks warning strike across the nation, to protest against poor working conditions among others. According to New Telegraph, the two-week strike would commence on Saturday, March 26. The police men and women are demanding changes as regards poor salaries, a lack of genuine welfare benefits and outdated weapons. They also condemned government’s insensitivity to the continuous killing of their colleagues by armed robbers and terrorists, without adequate compensation for their families. In a letter to Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba sighted by the New Telegraph, the representatives of the aggrieved police officers are demanding for improved conditions of service, particularly salary increase and provision of modern weapons as they tackle the security challenges facing the country. SAfER: Makinde Leads House-To-House Distribution Of SAfER Packages In Oyo Town

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state on Wednesday flag-off the distribution of SAfER Packages to 200 thousand households in Oyo zone area of the state. Makinde after his speech during the flag-off of the distribution at Hakeem Adeyemi mini stadium in Oyo with his entourage went into the town to distribute the packed food items. He disclosed that households categorized as the poorest of the poor within the state would receive 10kg of rice each and 5kg of beans in a phased distribution process beginning from Thursday. According to the Governor, he said, the SAfER Packages budgetary framework comprises various segments including food, food security (agropreneurs), and security apparatus among others. Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has appointed the trio of Hon. Temitope Ezekiel Oladimeji, Dr Morohunkola Thomas and Hon. Ayansiju Lawal as Director-General, Abuja and Lagos Liaison Office and Special Advisers respectively. SALARY DEDUCTION: Gov. Makinde Addresses Striking Workers, Promises Closer and Consistent Synergy

The Oyo state government has pledged to quarterly hold a formal meeting with the state Labour movement. The promise was made by the state governor, Seyi Makinde on Monday at the Governor’s office, Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan while addressing the aggrieved workers. Makinde noted that the week-long protest of the workers at the frontage of the government secretariat has undoubtedly negatively affected the state revenue. Oyo working for safe return of Nigerian girl put up for sale in Lebanon—SSA Diaspora

The Oyo State government has expressed its readiness to see to the safe return of an indigene of the state, identified as Peace Ufuoma Busari, who was recently put up for sale on the internet in Lebanon, for the sum of $1000. A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Diaspora, Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu, maintained that the state was liaising with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) headed by Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa to facilitate the lady’s safe return home. 2023: INEC Postpones Governorship, State Assembly Elections To March 18

The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the governorship and state assembly elections till March 18. The exercise was previously scheduled to hold on March 11, but INEC, citing a logistics crisis stemming from BVAS configuration and transportation, said the election could not hold again as scheduled following a meeting of its executives on Wednesday evening. “The elections were postponed to allow one more week for preparations,” an official familiar with the meeting told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Wednesday night. “We should be able to get everything in order before March 18.” The meeting was still underway at INEC headquarters in Abuja as of the time of filing this report.
